On Saturday 17 October 2026, the village of Inia becomes the starting point for one of the most rewarding free walks in the Paphos calendar. The Inia Crags Trail is organised in conjunction with the Cyprus Rock Climbing Festival, threading hikers through the rugged sandstone formations of Laona and offering a rare chance to watch competitive climbers at work on the very rocks you pass.
The route covers 7 km with 300 m of elevation gain and takes approximately three hours to complete at a comfortable pace. It begins at the square in Inia, a traditional mountain settlement in the western hills of Cyprus, and winds outward through terrain that shifts from shaded village lanes to open rocky ridgelines. The landscape is quintessentially Cypriot — wild scrub, ancient stone and wide skies — and the proximity to the festival's climbing venues gives the walk an energy that a standard nature trail simply cannot match.
As the path climbs, the Akamas peninsula unfolds to the west: a protected wilderness of sea cliffs, dense maquis and turquoise water that few visitors see from this angle. It is a perspective that rewards the effort and lingers long after the walk is done.
With free entry and no registration barrier mentioned, the Inia Crags Trail suits everyone from seasoned trekkers to curious first-timers looking for an active Saturday in Paphos. Bring sturdy footwear, water and a camera.
